Mexico, Moles & More at Zucca

On Saturday, September 24, at 7 p.m., South Ogden's Zucca Trattoria will go south of the border. Chef/owner Elio Scanu will host a "Traveling Menu" five-course wine-pairing dinner featuring "Mexico, Moles & Wine."

In a salute to Scanu's three-month tenure at Patricia Quintana's Izote restaurant in Mexico City, the evening will feature contemporary angles on Mexico's most complex sauces and dishes.

The menu looks stunning. Appetizers (antojitos y botanas) include ceviche, shrimp with cilantro cream, and crab turnovers. Among the entrees are grilled lobster with fruity mole, seared duck breast with pecan-prune mole, and grilled lamb chops with pistacchio pipian (green mole). For dessert, there are brownie tamales with pomegranate-tequila-pepper sauce. Each course will be paired with a specially selected wine.

The price for the five-course dinner is $40 per person; the optional wine pairings are $25. Phone 801-475-7077 for reservations. This is one you don't want to miss!
