Provo Woman Finalist in Paula Deen Cooking Contest

Provo resident Carmell Childs was named this week as a finalist in Paula Deen's "Real Women of Philadelphia" recipe contest and has a chance to win $25,000. Southern cooking queen and Food Network star Paula Deen teamed with Kraft for the Real Women of Philadelphia cooking contest which, actually, has little to do with the City of Brotherly Love.

The contest invites female cooks (discrimination here?) to submit recipes in various food categories utilizing Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Provo's Carmell Childs was named one of 16 finalists (in the appetizer category) and she'll be flown to Savannah, Georgia to meet Deen and atend the final event on June 30. Childs made the finals with her recipe for coconut shrimp poppers with chili mango cream.
