Morgan Spurlock SLCC Commencement Speaker

Salt Lake Community College’s 2011 Keynote Speaker for Commencement will be award-winning filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. Spurlock’s first feature film, Super Size Me, earned an Academy Award nomination --- for best feature documentary. Screened in more than 100 countries, the film has had a massive influence on the way people think and talk about food.

His second feature documentary, Where in the World is Osama bin Laden? premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was named one of the most important films of the year by the Islamic Society of North America. His latest film, POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold also premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled to open locally on May 6.

Spurlock has also worked on network television for the critically acclaimed 30 Days, which deals with important issues such as the minimum wage, prison reform, abortion and gun control.

The College class of 2011 will graduate on Thursday, May 5 during the 2011 SLCC Commencement Ceremonies, which will be held at 7:00 PM at the Maverik Center at 3200 South Decker Lake Drive in West Valley City.
