It was only a matter of time, right? I mean, canned beer has been around since before I was born. And, now you can get wine in boxes and wine coolers in plastic bottles. So, why not whiskey in a can? Panama-based Scottish Spirits, which also has an office in Glasgow, is consumer testing Scotch whisky in a can in South America and the Caribbean.
"It's lightweight and portable and entirely recyclable. It will be one of the hot picks for any outdoor activities," said Scottish Spirits chief exec Manish Panshal. "We are really thrilled with the idea - it's going to be a part of every lifestyle and occasion."
Really? Part of every lifestyle and occasion? I think maybe not.
Interestingly, the can pronounces the whisky "Very Rare Blend," "First Quality," and also carries the date 1896. Hmmmm... I think that's Robert Burns I hear rolling over in his grave.
