A little over a year after KRCL 90.9 FM's controversial switch from a stylistic weekday potpourri of volunteer DJs to a stable roster of paid talent, one has apparently had all the radio he needs: David Perschon, who helmed mornings 6-10 am, has left the station; Ebay Jamil Hamilton (middays 10 am-2 pm) and Bad Brad Wheeler (afternoons 2-6 pm) remain.
A circulating KRCL memo says an interim host will take over mornings indefinitely, and a job posting has been made. So, if you're in tune with the station's public-radio mission and music (and presumably have no issue with KRCL's bizarre T.Rex obsession of late), you could be Salt Lake's next new morning DJ.
KRCL is frustrating. It should be a better music station than it is.
BTW...David didn't leave the station, he was fired.
They are not looking for a new morning DJ...one who has music knowledge and talent. They are looking for a morning ANNOUNCER...someone who will sit there and read the names of the songs that a computer has programed. What a shame.
David was fired because he wouldn't automate his show. Meaning he wouldn't just simply announce the songs that are regurgiated from a pre chosen (by whom I don't know) playlist. All of what we were told last year about local programming, etc. was a lie. Let the Donna Land inspired KRCL death rattle begin
That Dave guy was the most BORING, tiresome "dj" I ever heard. Good riddance!
