Glad You Asked: The 2:13s, Kasie West and The Chieftains

Dear GYA, It seems people are still pretty upset about all those Burger Kings in the UK serving horse meat. First off, people need to take a deep breath and relax. If you watch Game of Thrones then you'd know we humans have been eating horse meat since the the ancient Dothraki roamed the plains of Essos. Yep, that's a free history lesson. Anything good happening today besides eating horse? - Gretchen Pronto, Midvale

Gretchen, I couldn't agree more -- a little horse never hurt anybody. Unless you're caught in a stampede of little horses. That could be hell. Anyway, here's what's up for today:

- Local three-piece indie band The 2:13s will be throwing a CD Release Party at The Urban Lounge. Check out CW Music Editor Austen Diamond's interview with the band. Spooky Moon, ’90s Television and Roe & Spenser will open things up. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

- Young-adult-fiction writer Kasie West will be reading and signing her new book, Pivot Point, at The King's English Bookshop. The reading starts at 7 p.m.

- Six-time Grammy-winning Irish band The Chieftains will be performing at Kingsbury Hall. Tickets are $28.50 to $54.50; if you have a student ID, they're $5. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
