Glad You Asked: Dan Deacon, Day of The Dead and Sea Wolf

Dear GYA, Have you been watching the news lately? There's a damned hurricane going on outside and here I am on my way to work. This is ridiculous. I can't believe I gotta sit in my office all day while there's a "frankenstorm" on the loose. Well, anything happening today after I leave the cubicle? Darrel Stumptower, Sandy

Darrel, You do understand that Hurricane Sandy isn't happening in Sandy, Utah, right? It's an easy mistake. Anyway, here are a few things to do after you battle the elements:

Electronic musician Dan Deacon will be at Kilby Court tonight. The Maryland-based composer is known for his engaging live performances, where audience participation is usually an integral part of the show.  Deacon's 2006 track "Drinking Out Of Cups" became somewhat of a viral hit and has been viewed more than 17 million times on YouTube. Despite the rumors, Deacon didn't drop any LSD to record this monologue. The show starts at 7 p.m.

The Utah Cultural Celebration Center will be hosting a Day of The Dead  exhibit all day today. This Mexican holiday is all about celebrating the lives of loved ones who've passed away. In other words, for two whole nights, observers are joined by the deceased for one awesome party.

Indie-folk band, Seawolf will be onstage at Urban Lounge tonight. Led by Alex Brown Church, Seawolf has worked with producers of bands like Fleet Foxes, The Shins and Band of Horses. But they're most recognizable for the track "The Violet Hour," which was featured in the the hit tween film, Twilight: New Moon. The show starts at 9 p.m.

A few Halloween-themed events for tonight:

- In Ogden, check out the Haunted Hollow forest tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

- The Insanity Point corn maze at Cornbelly's opens tonight. Tickets are $15.95.

- The classic haunted house Nightmare on 13th opens at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.
