Posted // 2012-09-04 - Dear GYA, As I get older, I notice people say I don't party like I used to. I'm here to say that's total crap. Take Labor Day, for example. First, I partied through some grilled mango-marinated chicken, then I partied through about three ears of corn and then, to top it off, I took a huge party nap. Anyways, I'm looking to party till I puke tonight. What's good?- Andrew W.K.
Andrew, you're the party shogun. Anyone who questions how hard you party is a damned fool. Here are some suggestions to level up your partying:
The folk-hop band Why? will be performing at In The Venue/Club Sound tonight. Headed by front man Yoni Wolf (who is also the co-founder of the always-experimental label Anticon), the band is known for smart hip-hop-infused lyrics coupled with an indie-rock backdrop. The show starts at 8 p.m.
At The Depot, there will be a Benefit Concert for the South Salt Lake Police Athletics League (PAL). It's hosted by Kyle Turley, former Provo resident and 10-year NFL offensive tackle. Apparently, now he's a full-blown country singer, for real. Turley will be playing alongside special guests United Soles, Tony Holiday, and The Velvetones. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Frida Bistro and Vida Tequilla are hosting an all-inclusive tequila-pairing dinner. The dinner will feature six courses prepared by the Frida chefs, paired with Vida tequila tastings and cocktails. The menu will be gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available. Seating is limited to 20 people. Reservations are $90/seat (includes food, drinks, tax, and tip). The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.
Other worthwhile events happening tonight:
- For some stand-up comedy, check out Comedy Roadkill at The Complex, beginning at 8 p.m.
- Geeks Who Drink pub trivia will be going down at Maggie McGee's, starting at 8 p.m.
- Moonface and Sad Baby Wolf will be onstage at Urban Lounge. Doors open at 9 p.m.
