Glad You Asked: Band of Horses, Indian Food and The Hulk

Dear GYA, I need to get something off my chest. Obviously, I'm totally against Chic-Fil-A's stance on gay marriage. I think people should have the right to be happy. But all this talk about delicious fried chicken only makes me want to eat at Chic-Fil-A. I feel like this is some twisted scheme to get me to eat there and hate myself at the same time. Anything to do today that will take my mind off chicken sandwiches? - Max Hungry, Orem

Max, I'm sorry but there's no way this is a scheme by Chic-Fil-A to trick you into eating there. It's a plot to get people to see their name in the news so often that we'll start spelling it correctly. Here are some things to do today other than eat at Chick-Fillet:

Indie-rock group Band of Horses will be headlining the Twilight Concert Series tonight at Pioneer Park. The Seattle-based crew's 2010 album Infinite Arms was nominated for a Grammy, and their fourth album, Mirage Rock, is due out this September. Plus, they have a song called the "Great Salt Lake" so get excited. Lower Dens will be kicking things off. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Cooks and Books will happening at the City Creek Harmons tonight. The grocery store has teamed up with local The King's English Bookshop to bring you an evening of food and books. This week, the group will be discussing Indian food and Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize-winning short-story collection. For $50, you get a copy of the book, a cooking class and some great food! The class starts at 6:30 p.m.

Hulk After You! will be playing at the Main Library. The film by Los Angeles artists Edgar Arceneaux and Kurt Forman is a mixture of three movies rolled into one -- Altered States, The Incredible Hulk and Youth Without Youth -- and creates an interesting subtext about what it means to have super powers in a nuclear age. The show starts at 7 p.m.

A few more worthwhile events:

- Wicked will be playing at the Capitol Theatre tonight. Click for more details.

- The sketch comedy group Laughing Matters will be performing at Comedy Sportz Provo, beginning at 8 p.m.

- The Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Sacramento River Cats, starting at 7:05 p.m.
