Dear GYA, I've  got a pretty big bowling tourney this weekend and if I win, I'm the 2012 Odor-Eaters Champion. Let's just say it feels like I've got one foot in the frying pan and one in the pressure cooker. Believe me, as a bowler, sometimes you feel like your bladder is an overstuffed vacuum-cleaner bag and your butt is kinda like an about-to-explode bratwurst.--- Man, anything good happening today? I need to take my mind off bowling. -Ernie McCracken

Ernie, sometimes a bowler just has to face the music. You're a champion, you'll do fine. Here's what's going on today:

The 4th of July will be a day early at Canyons Resort. To celebrate our nation's independence, Canyons Resort is offering up a massive fireworks display, afternoon carnival games, a parade and live music from the Soulistics. This event is free to the public; however, no dogs allowed.

Remember the movie Drumline with Nick Canon? Well, now's your chance to see some of the nation's best drum and bugle corps, live at Weber State. Corps Encore has attracted some of the nation's elite groups like the Blue Devils of Concord, Phantom Regiment and The Santa Clara Vanguard. Word, son. The marchin' starts at 7 p.m.

The latin-reggae-funk band The B-Side Players will be at The State Room tonight. The quartet features some big-name musicians, like guitarist Raul Pacheco of Ozomatli and drummer Ryan Morgan of Slightly Stoopid. The San Diego-based crew is releasing their 10th CD, Revolutionize, which just came out today. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Other worthwhile events tonight:

- The Highlander Club will hosting the Amber May Speed Dating Mixer at 7 p.m.

- The Where's Waldo? Scavenger Hunt will be happening at the King's English Bookshop.

- For some stand-up comedy, check out Comedy Roadkill at The Complex tonight at 8 p.m.
