Dear GYA, I just want to say that Stan Van Gundy was a great coach but, unfortunately, the Orlando Magic had to let him go. Over the years, he taught me and the rest of the fellas all sorts of good stuff, you know, like how to eat buffalo wings without getting sauce on your face and if you fold a pizza slice just right the toppings won't fall out.--- Well, he's gonna be missed. Is there anything happening today that I should suggest to the poor guy? - Dwight Howard

Dwight, Van Gundy was a genius, especially off the court. Did you know that he came up with the idea for pizza bagels immediately after being fired by Pat Riley in 2005? The guy is an innovator -- I'm sure he'll be all right. Here's what's going down today:

The Georgia-bred indie-rockers Reptar will be performing at The State Room tonight. For the unfamiliar: Think Vampire Weekend minus the boat shoes, with lots of vodka. Grouplove will be headlining. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are going for $15.

Crime-fiction author Michael Norman will be signing his new book Skeleton Picnic at The King's English Bookshop tonight. As a former police officer, law professor and member of the Utah State Board of Pardons and Parole, the Salt Lake City-based expert will be reading and discussing his new work. The edutainment begins at 7 p.m.

Psych-rockers Spindrift will be gettin' down at the Garage patio.  The California-based band composes their own spaghetti-western soundtracks -- really. Check 'em out below:

Other worthwhile events today:

- Geeks Who Drink at Maggie McGee's starts up at 8 p.m.

- Checkout some local stand-up with Comedy Roadkill at The Complex, beginning at 8 p.m.

- Active Child and Super Humanoids will be performing at Urban Lounge, starting at 9 p.m.
