Glad You Asked

Glad You Asked: Disney, Oz and Kelly Clarkson

Dear GYA, I’m in town for the SLC Nerd conference and I have some very sad news to report: I’m going to stop making movies. I’ve been reading some of the comments about my new TMNT movie, and gosh, people are so mean. I thought everyone liked my Michael Bay explosions. I guess I could start directing plays or something. I dunno, any ideas for things in town that could use a Michael Bay explosions or two? – Michael Bay, Shilo Inn, downtown SLC

Michael, there are plenty of things you could enhance with a Michael Bay explosion. For example, tonight Kingsbury Hall is hosting Circus OZ: Steam Powered. It's a traveling circus troop from Australia that centers its act around a giant steam-powered organ. Expect jugglers, acrobats, dancers and some great music. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets range from $19.50-$34.50.

If you're downtown, then head over to the Capital Theatre for Disney's Beauty and The Beast.  It's the Broadway version of the classic Disney story about a chick who attempts to housebreak a water buffalo. It's a universal story that everyone can relate to. Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m.

If you're a nostalgic American Idol fan, then go see Kelly Clarkson at the Maverik Center. Simon Cowell loved her, so why shouldn't you? Tickets are still available, starting at $42. This explosion of pop music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Other things today that are worthy of a Michael Bay explosion:

- The Utah Jazz take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m.

- Indie-rock band White Rabbit at Urban Lounge. Doors open at 9 p.m.

- Free screenings of Justified and American Horror Story at Brewvies. The show starts at 8 p.m.
