Dear GYA, I want to remind the citizens of Salt Lake City to have a fun, safe celebration tonight. If you're going to drink alcohol, remember to drink in moderation, call a cab if you've had too much and, most importantly, don't end up at a club that plays excessive amounts of dubstep.--- Seriously, anything to do tonight that doesn't involve a butt-ton of dubstep? - Chris Burbank, Salt Lake City Chief of Police

Chief Burbank, Thank you for this important public-service announcement. Here are a few ways to ring in the New Year:

The 2013 City Weekly DJ of the year, Flash and Flare will be performing at Urban Lounge tonight, alongside City Weekly's 2012 band of the year Max Pain and The Groovies. DJ Matty Mo is also on the bill. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $6.

Bay Area Guitarist Eric McFadden will be at Brewskis this evening. The show starts at 10. Tickets are $10 in advance.

Bar Deluxe will be hosting local bands Minx, Zodiac Empire and Totem & Taboo. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5.

If live music isn't your bag, check out our NYE Bar Blitz for a massive rundown of what almost every single bar and club in Utah has planned for tonight.

And, for a complete list of things regarding New Year's Eve in Salt Lake City, head to our robust 2014 NYE Guide.
