Beehive Wins Again!
Utah’s own Beehive Cheese Company, located in Uintah, has done it again. Beehive’s garnering of awards and medals at cheese competitions has become so routine, it’s easy to overlook their significance. Recently, the Guild of Fine Food announced the winners of its 2011 World Cheese Awards in London. From among some 2,500 competitors, Beehive walked away with two very prestigious medals. Beehive’s Full Moon unpasteurized cow’s milk cheese won a silver medal in the semi-firm cheese category, while a bronze medal was awarded for Apple Walnut Smoked in the smoked-cheddar category; it’s a cow’s milk cheese smoked with toasted walnut shells and red apples.
For more than 20 years, the World Cheese Awards has been the largest and most diverse cheese competition, with over 200 judges from around the globe. “The Beehive team is overjoyed with our win in London,” said co-owner Pat Ford. “It’s great to see that the care and hard work that goes into making Beehive’s handmade cheeses is recognized around the world.” Visit BeehiveCheese.com for more information.
Waldorf’s Salad Days
Changes are afoot at Park City’s Waldorf Astoria—changes that might ring in the resort’s salad days. For starters, Talisker Corp. (owner of Canyons Resort) will launch a new restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria (replacing Spruce) called Slopes by Talisker, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Created by award-winning chef John Murcko and led by executive chef Clement Gelas, the Slopes menu will feature dishes that are hearty and healthy and, with gluten-free and vegan choices, are in accord with the various dietary needs and preferences of guests. A casual bistro menu will be offered in the lounge, with a more extensive menu available in the dining room. The restaurant will have 120 indoor seats as well as additional outdoor seasonal seating with views of the pool and scenic courtyard.
