Basketball and Gangsta Rap: Family Home evenings go “street”
“Gangster Rap Made Me Do It” at Club Edge (615 N. 400 West). Club attendees, ahem, “G’s and Shorties,” have the option of playing indoor B-Ball while getting crunk on gin & juice. DJ White Shadow provides the music. Club Edge features many of the staff members who made The Trapp Door a smashing good time.

The Nocturnal Prowl: New clubs spotted
After months of mysterious construction efforts, Sapa Bar & Grill joins Burt’s Tiki Lounge, The Woodshed and The Bayou on an increasingly happening stretch of midtown Salt Lake City. Located at 722 S. State, the new bar and grill named after a Vietnamese town opened its doors witha special Sushi on Sunset event featuring DJ Knucklz whose set included songs by Thievery Corporation. Sapa’s classy environment paired with reasonably priced rolls help make the venue a great place to enjoy nightlife without “people grinding on each other,” says Sapa’s co-partner, Seth Cummings.

Out of the Ashes: Dead Clubs Rising
Monk’s recently closed its doors—for good, unfortunately—but fans hollered loud enough to relocate the defunct venue’s Classic Funk/Psych/Soul night to Jackalope (372 S. State). The weekly evening features a rotating cast of DJs including DJ ChaseOne2 of Positively Fourth Street Music. Club-goers are encouraged to bring their own vinyl gems to play for the crowd.
