As the official school of Utah’s premier dance company, Ballet West Academy keeps busy grooming the next generation of the ballet elite. Its annual Spring Performance includes the elementary levels of the academy dancing in the Fairy Festival (With a Little Bit of Elven Mischief), while the more advanced levels perform in one of the most beloved and classical ballet in any company’s repertoire, the Sleeping Beauty Suite.

Ballet West Academy Director Peter Christie says that the Spring Performance plays a vital role in these burgeoning dancers’ lives. “It is important for our young dancers to see the culmination of the process of learning, rehearsing and presenting within their own personal experience. … It solidifies the learning experience when they themselves go through the process and have the exhilarating opportunity to hear the applause they receive from the audience for a job well done.”

Ballet West Academy Spring Performance @ Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. Broadway, 801-355-ARTS, June 3-5, 7 p.m., June 5 matinee @ 1 p.m., $20. ArtTix.org, BalletWest.org
