I am incredibly sad to see the Avalon close [“Dancing the Club Away,” Nov. 5, City Weekly]. It was one of the few places my 14-year-old daughter and her friends could experience safe, affordable entertainment. Having attended several concerts with my daughter and friends, I have never experienced the Avalon as “unsafe” or out of control. Any misbehavior exhibited from attendees was quickly expunged by security. Our society is continuously excluding activities for kids between 12 and 16 years old.

It’s too bad a civilized agreement could not be made to keep the Avalon open for the betterment of our society.
