Filling Station, Downstairs, Jam, Club Allure & Woodshed

By Jon Paxton

Party on the West Side
Magna’s Filling Station (8987 W. 2700 South) features U92’s DJ Dao on the tables every Wednesday for ladies night. Great deals on drinks and pizza as well.

Something in the Basement
Danny Masterson’s new-ish Park City venture, Downstairs, (625 Main) frequently brings in topnotch touring live acts and DJs. Future highlights include DJ Spider (Nov. 14) and Jordan Masterson (Nov. 28). We look forward to seeing who the club books for Sundance.

On Hold
Marmalade District’s favorite club, Jam (751 N. 300 West), has been running an uphill battle for more than a year to upgrade from beer bar to fully-licensed liquor venue. A Nov. 5 Salt Lake City Council meeting provided little closure thanks to a “text change” that postponed the final vote— again. Stay tuned to CityWeekly.net for updates.

Feel the Allure: Hair Nation at Club Allure
Every Thursday night join Hair Nation for an evening of ‘80s and ’90s hits at Club Allure (8925 S. 255 West). Also, enjoy a special live acoustic set from Orion Walsh with Melanie on Nov. 17.

Halloween at the Woodshed
Some folks went dancing, some kids went binging at house parties, and people in the know showed up for Halloween-night music at The Woodshed (60 E. 800 South). Oh! Wild Birds, Ulysses, Fauna and La Farsa played to a great crowd of costumed fans [see photos, right]. The Woodshed is under new management. We’ll keep you posted on any changes that shift might bring.
