Flicks in Pieces Oct 27: iPod Scores

By Scott Renshaw

Flicks in Pieces is a weekly feature devoted not to entire movies, but to the individual parts of them that we love and loathe.

Movie music can be amazingly evocative in context, but it can also be so emotionally affecting that we're even happy to listen to it out of context. What cinematic scores, songs and themes have left such an impression that you might listen to them all by their lonesome? Maybe they're shuffling on your digital playlist right now ...

Last night, upon being reminded of the film via someone else's Website, I listened on my iPhone several times to "Yumeji's Theme" from Wong Kar-wai's "In the Mood for Love." (Here's one clip, with a scene from the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lrFRG-rJ8s)
