Want to bend Mayor Corroon’s ear for 10 minutes? With no appointment necessary, you can jaw with the County mayor on any issue from Oxbow to sustainability to Frontrunner South to American Idol. The event is free and open to the public.
Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office, N-2100 (2nd Floor, North Building), Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State, March 26, 4-5:30 p.m., 801-468-2500, Mayor.SLCO.org

Progressive Majority Candidate Recruitment and Leadership Training
Friday, March 27

Obama fever “blue-ified” many conservative states across our nation. Building on that momentum, the Progressive Majority will hold a workshop on how to run a progressive campaign. It’s just the pep talk you’ll need if you plan to run blue in a red state like Utah. Take note, there is a $25 registration fee. But, if you consider yourself a progressive candidate-to-be, one willing to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune that come from running for office in Utah with a “D” next your name, then you’ll want to check out this event. Besides, you’re going to need all the help you can get. Salt Lake City Main Library auditorium, 210 E. 400 South, March 27, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., RSVP tracyvanw@gmail.com

Freedom to Dream: Rights of Immigrants
Friday, March 27

Deep in the heart of Utah County, ACLU of Utah will be screening the short documentary Freedom to Dream, which looks at the marginalization of undocumented immigrants. After the movie stokes the fire of this hotly contested issue, a panel will get things going with an examination of how local laws and ordinances effect Utah’s undocumented populace.
Provo City Library, 550 N. University Avenue, Provo, 7-8:30 p.m., contact Anna Brower at 801-521-9862 ext. 100, ABrower@ACLUUtah.org
