A recent survey found 64 percent of U.S. high school students had cheated on a test in the past year and 30 percent had shoplifted. Some wonder if the current youth are more unethical because of the competitive nature of society. City Weekly asked Shawn Stinson of the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau his take on the current generation:

For the most part, children of today are similar to children of generations past. Obviously, they haven’t had to go through the hardships of the past like the Great Depression. But frankly, neither have I or my generation. But I think certain hardships have to be endured before people come to truly appreciate all that they have and that has been given to them from previous generations.
