n The Ogden School District has decided to reduce its high school math requirement from four years to three. Some worry the shortened curriculum will be inadequate for preparing students for college. City Weekly asked Erin Foley of the Jagged Edge Retreat salon downtown whether or not she thinks the change is a good idea:n
That’s how it is in Jordan School District, they only require two years. There’s no calculus or pre-calculus. It’s not necessary for high school, I don’t think. They still offer those classes if you want to attend. That’s good [but] I don’t think it’s necessary to take calculus in high school. Say you’re not going into something that requires a lot of math, then you don’t need it.
