The Way It Is | Omar Abou-Ismail of Omar’s Living Cuisine

Utah recently began its four-day work week for certain state government employees. The effort is meant to conserve energy and cut down commuter pollution. But many state employees complain it throws their schedules off while citizens complain of not being able to complete errands such as renewing driver licenses. City Weekly asked Omar Abou-Ismail of Omar’s Living Cuisine in Sugar House what he thought of the initiative.

I believe if you go to Europe, they always have a time they’re off [work]. We really overwork ourselves here, we need more family time. There needs to be more of a break. If you work all the time, you don’t give yourself space to evolve your social and family life. I wish we could all take Friday off.
