roasting life-giver that is the sun at Solar Day Salt Lake. The event will feature live music by Desert Wind and speakers like Anthony Denzer, author of the The Solar House, who will talk about making the most of clean, inexpensive solar power. The event is free and 100 percent solar-powered.

Primary Children’s Charity Social

Dolls & Gents is a different kind of charity group that’s tapped in to good causes as well as local artists and musicians. This Saturday, come out to Lumpy’s South for a social get-together to dance and drink to good health—10 percent of all drink sales will go to Primary Children’s Hospital’s Liver Disease & Transplantation Program. The social is free before 10 p.m. and $5 afterward, when there will be dancing and a DJ.

Salt Lake City Planning Commission

The proposed extension of the Sugar House Streetcar line has drawn a mixed reaction from residents. At this week’s Planning Commission meeting, the city will revisit a proposal to rezone the area to allow for development of parcels surrounding the proposed line. Show up to make sure one of Salt Lake City’s most iconic neighborhoods doesn’t get railed in a bad way.
