Warming Local Communities, One Coat at a Time

Citizen Revolt is aware that this coat drive was highlighted in a recent column, but the fact is, it’s still cold, and getting colder. And, there are plenty of folks you could help out with gently used coats, jackets and other winter clothing items through One Warm Coat, a nationwide clothing drive that’s collected more than 1 million coats since 1992.

The Gift that Saves the Day

So you don’t have a spare coat or the time to scrounge one up—fear not. If you have a dollar or two, you can make a difference by participating in the American Red Cross’ “The Gift that Saves the Day” fundraising drive. Scrape together $36 and you can provide blankets to six people affected by disaster; give $100 and you can provide 10 meals for those forced from their homes.

The Road Home may be one of the most established care agencies in Salt Lake City, but it’s only as strong as the community that supports it. That means you! Right now, The Road Home is in urgent need of blankets, pillows and towels, but always accepts other items, from hygiene to sleeping bags to tents. You can also volunteer your time or greenbacks—all help is welcome.
