Ririe-Woodbury “Move-It” Student Showcase

FRIDAY 8.7

By Scott Renshaw
Posted // August 5,2009 -

Dancing, like any art form, isn’t something you stop learning once you’ve got a degree and actually start making money at it. Even the pros can be life-long students, and students always need help from their fellow pros.

This summer’s “Move-It” workshop brought choreographers both local (Ririe-Woodbury’s own Charlotte Boye-Christensen, capoeira instructor Jamaika) and national (New York’s Karole Armitage and Kay Cummings, among others) to work with professional dancers, dancers-in-training and aspiring dancers in a series of workshops. High school students mingle with those who want a chance to learn how to teach dance. Friday, the general public can get a peek at what these folks have learned by attending a free performance. Get there early to see how beautiful education can be.

Ririe-Woodbury “Move-It” Student Showcase @ Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. 300 South, 801-355-2787, Friday, Aug. 7, 7:30 p.m. RirieWoodbury.com
