Cowboy Music & Poetry Festival

Saturday, May 23

Posted // May 20,2009 -

The cowboy way isn’t just something to watch in old movies full of shoot-outs. It was a real way of life in these parts, and the Entrada Institute is doing its best to keep it alive.

For the eighth year, the Institute’s Cowboy Music & Poetry Festival serves up traditional tunes, cowboy skills, choice grub and homespun verse, with a few new twists in 2009: The Home-made Ice Cream Challenge takes place during the intermission, and the festival venue is a brand-new outdoor stage at the Robber’s Roost Bookstore in Torrey. But it’s still the same celebration of a vanishing breed, including poetry and music by Wayne County’s own Ray Conrad, plus performances by Blue Sage and local musicians Dee Hatch, Dudley Elliott and Les Draper. Out under the stars, you’ll feel as though 150 years have slipped away.

Cowboy Music & Poetry Festival @ Robber’s Roost Bookstore, 185 W. Main St., Torrey, 435-425-2118, Saturday, May 23, 6– 10 p.m. EntradaInstitute.org
