Dads Aren’t Visitors

By City Weekly Readers
Posted // May 1,2013 -

Isn’t it telling that in an article about father’s rights [“Disposable Dad,” April 25, City Weekly], we still refer to it as “visitation.” He is a parent, not a visitor. The bias is that embedded in the system. One of the changes that needs to take place is that we start thinking of it as a co-parenting schedule.

Posted // May 4,2013 at 16:34 Wynn is right! Fathers are not visitors. One can visit a friend in the hospital. I may visit my son at school or he may visit me at work. But one doesn't visit their own home! My child has his toothbrush by the sink, pillow on his bed, and artwork on the refrigerator. Although he lives at Dad's house only on the 1st, 3rd, 5th weekends, he lives in my heart always! I am not a visitor and neither is he.
