There Is a Lie in There

Our own Mitt Romney has stated that he has not been involved with the management of Bain Capital since 1999. Yet several years after 1999, he signed federal documents indicating involvement and responsibility for the firm. There is a lie in there somewhere, since both statements cannot be correct.

Admittedly, this is not unusual behavior for a politician. However, it got me thinking about the implications of lying and how it is viewed by the LDS Church, particularly in the case of the temple recommend, a document I understand is issued only to those who have totally conformed to the moral dictates of the church. I imagine that lying is not permissible.

But some might be cynical enough to suggest that big tithers get a pass on their moral behavior.
