Polly Horvath: Northward to the Moon

TUESDAY 3.2

By Rob Tennant
Posted // February 24,2010 -

Newbery Honor- and National Book Award-winning author Polly Horvath will be reading and signing copies of her newest children’s book tonight at The King’s English.

Northward to the Moon is the sequel to 2008’s My One Hundred Adventures and continues to chronicle the goings-on and growings-up of 12-year-old Jane and her family. This time, they are on the road after Jane’s new stepfather, Ned, loses his job teaching high school French for the simple reason of not knowing the language. The result is a rambling tour of the American West, with a kid’s-eye view of Las Vegas, an American Indian reservation and a working ranch.

In her trademark style, Horvath walks the line between the worlds of children and adults with imagination, silliness and genuine wit. So, take the kids up to The King’s English and browse for yourself while you’re at it.

Polly Horvath: Northward to the Moon @ The King’s English Bookshop, 1511 S. 1500 East, 801- 484-9100, Tuesday, March 2, 7 p.m. KingsEnglish.com
