Strike Back: Season 1
The manliest series on TV (well, Cinemax) follows the exploits of good-lookin’ counter-terrorism operatives as they punch, kick, shoot, screw, explode and grimace their way around the globe. It’s like 24 meets a firefighter calendar. (HBO)

Grimm: Season 1
A Portland homicide cop (David Guintoli) learns that he’s a descendent of the Grimms, who are charged with keeping the peace between humans and mythological monsters. Better (and more Portland-y) than Once Upon a Time. (Universal)

Bel Ami
Twilight’s Robert Pattinson stars as a suave seducer who … ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Anyway … (Magnolia)

The Lorax
The Despicable Me producers ruin, er, re-imagine Dr. Seuss’ tale of a boy (Zac Efron) who seeks the help of an orange hairball (Danny DeVito) to win a girl (Taylor Swift). Why not just say, “Remember me from High School Musical?” (Universal)

Parenthood: Season 3
The Braverman family returns for a third season of yelling, brooding, weeping, emoting and making up, with help/hindrance from random guest stars Jason Ritter, John Corbett, and Cee Lo Green as the little baby-armed dinosaur who could. (Universal)

More New DVD Releases (Aug. 7)
Blue Like Jazz, Bomber Boys, Girlfriend, Kathy Griffin: Pants Off/Tired Hooker, Knock Knock 2, Let It Shine, The Liquidator, Loving the Bad Man, Mr. Hush, Redemption Road, Squidbillies: Season 5, Steve Niles’ Remains, Warriors of the Rainbow, Yellow Rock
