Sunday, March 17, marked Piper Down’s (1492 S. State, 801-468-1492) 10th-annual St. Paddy’s Day celebration, an impressive milestone topped off with the usual Irish fixin’s, like Guinness, corned beef & cabbage and a gratuitous amount of bagpipes. But just because the green beer is tapped out and the floors have been thoroughly bleached, it doesn’t mean that you should ignore State Street’s most worldly pub the rest of the year. Besides, even Kanye West knows that kilts aren’t just for St. Paddy’s Day and ceremonial shenanigans. Every Thursday night, there’s the saucy and surly Burlesque Bingo, and on Mondays and Tuesdays, there’s arguably one of the best free Texas Hold ’Em tourneys.
