I’ve always associated social clubs with leather chairs, cigar smoke and day traders—you know, the kind of place you’d likely spot Randolph and Mortimer Duke. But Oscar’s Social Club (8136 S. State, Midvale, 801-566-3222) takes a neighborhood approach to the genre and replaces a stuffy atmosphere with free UFC fights, crowded dance floors and stellar pub grub. Just about every night of the week features something different. But the Big O’s busiest night is arguably Saturday, hosted by DJ Ultrafit, who mixes a wide range of everything from Michael Jackson to Tyga. When you’re not cutting up a rug, sip on $3 tallboys or taste the rainbow with the infamous $3.50 Skittles shot. Yes, it tastes exactly like a bag of Skittles.
