If you are somehow unfamiliar with the television program So You Think You Can Dance, just think American Idol and replace the pop-star wannabes with dance-happy contestants. Furthermore, as reality television has grown evermore formulaic over the years (if that’s even possible), it makes sense that SYTYCD also follows in the footsteps of Idol by taking its show on the road.

The tour will showcase the fancy footwork of the 10 finalists from Season 5 of Fox’s summer staple. You can witness firsthand all of your favorite 15-minutes-of-famers throw down jazz to ballet to hip-hop to ballroom. And, as seems to be par for the course on televised dance programs, one of Utah’s own is among the best. Odyssey Dance Theatre company member Brandon Bryant did so well, in fact—finishing second to winner Jeanine Mason—that Gov. Gary Herbert declared Aug. 20, 2009 “Brandon Bryant Day.”

So You Think You Can Dance Tour @ The E Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, 800-745-3000, Saturday, Nov. 7, 7:30 pm, TheECenter.com
