Utah Symphony’s “Bravo Broadway”

May 1-2

The new Principle Pops Conductor of the Utah Symphony, Maestro Jerry Steichen, will be shedding the starchy shell of classical music this weekend to lead a fun-filled evening of song. Bravo Broadway features vocalists Lisa Vroman, Rachel York and Doug Labrecque belting out all your favorite and most memorable Broadway showtunes.

All three veterans continue to thrill audiences in roles ranging from Les Misérables to The Music Man and Camelot, among others. And although Bravo Broadway might include one or two selections you are unfamiliar with, the event is filled with songs you know every last word to, even if you won’t admit it. Included on the bill are such classics as the everso-popular “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera and others from Jersey Boys and Chicago.

Bravo Broadway with the Utah Symphony @ Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, 801-533-nOTE, May 1-2, 8 p.m. UtahSymphony.org
