The Left Field

Friday Jan. 14-Saturday Jan. 15 @ Rose Wagner Center

If there’s anything more ubiquitous in Utah than ice cream parlors, it’s comedy acts catering to the same pure-of-soul clientele with self-parodying skits and plenty of clean, good-natured jokes.

Enter The Left Field to re-capture the “comedy” in “clean comedy.” A touring group of young LDS comedians, the members of this new ensemble hail from all across the country but have been performing together for several years at Brigham Young University’s Humor U. They rehearse together, create material together and now they aim to record their first DVD together.

This weekend’s performances are scheduled to feature Abi Harrison, James Littlejohn, Jefferson Snow, Bryson Kearl, James Archibald, Pete Kern, Josh Bolding and the viral sensation Stephen Jones, best known as “New Spice” for his BYU library parody of those popular Old Spice commercials. They just want you to keep in mind that just because it’s not dirty doesn’t mean it’s not funny.

The Left Field @ Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. Broadway, Jan. 14-15, 7 & 9:30 p.m., 801-355-2787, $15. ArtTix.org, LeftFieldStandUp.com
