Metro Wine Fest
On Sept. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Metropolitan hosts its annual Metro Food & Wine Fest, featuring 10 wineries pouring two to three wines each, plus several reserve offerings. Among the wineries represented will be Caymus, Charles Krug, Parallel, Selby, Judd’s Hill, Honig, Jeriko and Saracina/Atrea. In addition to wine, Metropolitan chefs will provide hors d’oeuvre pairings with each wine and Caputo’s Market & Deli will host a cheese sampling. Metropolitan owner Karen Olson tells me that the following winery representatives and winemakers will be in attendance: Michael Honig (Honig), John Fetzer (Saracina), Denny Fetzer (Jeriko) Susie Selby (Selby) and Judd Finkelstein (Judd’s Hill). Tickets for the Metro Food & Wine Fest are $75 per person for the standard wine tasting or $95 for the reserve tasting. To purchase tickets, phone 801-364-3472 or visit Metropolitan at 173 W. Broadway or online: TheMetropolitan.com.

Boulevard Party!
Layton’s annual Party on the Boulevard takes place this Thursday, Aug. 27, 6-9 p.m. Party on the Boulevard features food from MacCool’s Public House, Roosters, Corbin’s Grill and Holy Smoke BBQ & Grill, as well as live music, a car show, kids’ activities, farmers market and local artists, as the town closes Heritage Park Boulevard to traffic for the event. Admission is free. For more information, visit PartyOnTheBoulevard.com.

Acme Anniversary
In celebration of its second anniversary, Acme Burger Company is offering a “buy one entrée, get one entrée free” special during the month of September. There is some fine print: Dine-in only, minimum of two guests, automatic 18 percent gratuity, not valid with other offers, required to supply a non-commercial e-mail address. Still, a free Acme Burger is a free Acme Burger … 275 S. 200 West, 801-257-5700, AcmeBurgerCompany.com
