A Sensible Feast
Slow Food Utah is a nonprofit dedicated to food education, fostering community relations, the support of local farmers and foods and, in general, the convivial celebration of wholesome, quality foods. On Sunday, Sept. 15, Slow Foods Utah will host the ninth-annual Feast of Five Senses, a benefit to support Slow Food Utah’s micro-grant program. The evening will kick off with appetizers and a silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and will be held at the Salt Lake Culinary Center (2233 S. 300 East). These “feasts” are always amazing, and this one is no exception, with dishes prepared by a formidable lineup of chefs including Nathan Powers (Bambara), Viet Pham (Forage), Phelix Gardner (Finca), Ethan Lappe (Caffe Niche), Amber Billingsley (Vinto), Tom Grant (Martine), Jennifer Gilroy (Meditrina), Adam Kreisel (Chaia Cucina) and Peter Korth (Frida Bistro), with Francis Fecteau (Libation LLC) and Uinta Brewing providing wine and beer pairings. “We are encouraging our star chefs to ‘Think Globally and Act Locally,’ says Gwen Crist, president of Slow Food Utah. “Culinary offerings will focus on cuisines around the world, but will utilize the many praise-worthy local ingredients produced right here in Utah.” The cost to attend is $100 per person with an optional $25 wine/beer pairing. Special Chef’s Tables (you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the chefs cooking) are also available for $125 per person, plus $25 for wine/beer. Tickets may be purchased online at SlowFoodUtah.org.

20 Years of Fresh!
