More Cupcakes!
You might recall that Utah’s own One Sweet Slice (1644 W. Towne Center Drive, South Jordan, 801-727-4275) was the winner of the Food Network TV show Cupcake Wars. Well, a second One Sweet Slice store opened this month, at the Quarry Bend Shopping Center in Sandy (9305 S. Village Shop Drive). One Sweet Slice products include cupcakes, brownies, fruit bars, French macaroons, fruit tarts, cake pops, flourless cakes and more. Visit OneSweetSlice.com for more information.

Beer, Blues & Brats Returns
Beer, bratwurst and blues music are three of my favorite things. So you can bet I’ll be dropping in on the annual Beer, Blues & Brats fundraiser Sunday, May 5, from 2 to 6 p.m., at The Community Co-op (1726 S. 700 West, Salt Lake City). The $45 donation to attend will go to support the nonprofit Crossroads Urban Center, which helps provide underserved and disadvantaged Utahns with food, clothing, diapers, infant formula and more. Cold beer from Epic Brewing and nonalcoholic beverages will be served at the event, along with Colosimo’s brats, baked beans, salads, coleslaw and desserts. There will also be live performances by The Number Ones and belly dance by The Fourteenth Ward. To donate in advance, visit CrossroadsUrbanCenter.org or call 801-364-7765.

The Station Habit
The Habit Burger Grill has opened a second Utah location, this one in Farmington at Station Park (260 N. Union Ave.). Habit Burger launched its Farmington grill with three days of fundraising events this month, with proceeds from all sales going to the Farmington Community Center, Davis High School and the Bountiful Food Pantry. Personally, I really like Habit’s burgers and sandwiches, and I also like that they start at just $2.95. The Habit Burger Grill’s other Utah location is in Sugar House (2121 S. McClelland, 801-484-6132), with two more Utah stores scheduled to open in 2013. Visit HabitBurger.com for more information.
