Buglioni Wine Dinners
Mariano Buglioni is a craftsman who creates stunning wines at his eponymous estate in San Pietro, Italy. The wines range from sparkling Molinara to Valpolicella and Amarone. Two upcoming wine dinners will feature Buglioni wines; you don’t want to miss these. It’s a rare opportunity to taste sensational wines that you won’t come across often. I’ll have detailed information in an upcoming Drink column. For now, here are the dinner dates: Friday, Feb. 10 at South Ogden’s Zucca Trattoria (801-475-7077) at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 12 at Franck’s Restaurant (801-274-6264) in Holladay at 7 p.m. Among the wines being poured will be Buglioni Vigliacco sparkling Rosé; Buglioni Bugiardo, Ripasso della Valpolicella; Buglioni Amarone Classico; and Buglioni Intruso. Dickey’s Does SLC
Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has opened a restaurant in Salt Lake City, at 1846 S. 300 West. Founded in 1941, Dickey’s specializes in pit-smoked barbecue, including beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, Polish sausage, turkey breast and chicken, with an extensive array of home-style sides, from jalapeño beans and baked-potato casserole to creamy coleslaw and macaroni & cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with complimentary ice cream and dill pickles. Kids 12 and under eat free through Feb. 29 with the purchase of an adult meal. Slopeside Dining
Located in the Waldorf Astoria hotel near the base of Canyons resort, Slopes by Talisker restaurant has opened under the watchful eye of Talisker executive chef John Murcko and chef Clement Gelas. Slopes serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and features menu items such as chestnut soup with apples and duck confit; lobster carpaccio with fennel pollen and blood oranges; sumac-crusted John Dory with grilled radicchio and quinoa; pistachio venison with elderberries and smoked cauliflower; and king salmon with spinach, Johnny cakes and spicy tomato.
