Have It Your Way
At Utah’s Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt shops, ice cream is created to customers’ particular specifications. You choose the base—cream, rice or soy—flavor mixtures, mix-ins and overall texture. Then, the mixture is flash-frozen with liquid nitrogen, creating instantly “cryogenic” ice cream. Normally, when ice cream is frozen, it immediately starts to create ice crystals—to deteriorate. Since Sub Zero freezes its ice cream in about 15 seconds, it’s fresh as it can possibly be. SubZeroIceCream.com.

Toast to Good Health
You’ll want to set aside the evening of Thursday, July 14. That’s when the nonprofit Fourth Street Clinic hosts its annual A Toast to Good Health, a food and wine pairing benefit for the clinic and its underserved patients. Tickets are $150 each—the exact cost of one medical visit at the clinic, including medical supplies, lab costs and pharmaceuticals. Each ticket purchased for A Toast to Good Health will make health care a reality for one homeless Utahn. The event will take place at Log Haven Restaurant (6451 E. Millcreek Canyon Road), from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and feature five wines selected by Wasatch Academy of Wine’s Sheral Showe, paired with dishes created by chef Dave Jones. To purchase tickets, visit FourthStreetClinic.org.

Wasatch Winner
Congratulations to Wasatch Beers founder Greg Schirf and his brewing team, who’ve been cleaning up at recent beer festivals. Wasatch’s seasonal Summerbrau won a gold medal at the 17th annual North American Beer Festival in Idaho Falls, following a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. “We have won lots of awards over the years,” said Schirf, “but winning two gold medals back to back is pretty remarkable and speaks volumes to how wonderful this beer is and how some of the most respected judges in the country appreciate its outstanding craftsmanship.” In addition, Wasatch was awarded a silver medal for their Little Slammer Golden Ale and a bronze for Summer Twilight cream ale.
