Posted // February 21,2011 - Get Out the Vote
Three Salt Lake City chefs are in the running for “The People’s Best New Chef for 2011,” sponsored by?Food & Wine?magazine, Southwest Airlines and CNN’s Eatocracy. Forage’s Viet Pham and Bowman Brown and Pago’s Michael Richey have been named among the 10 Best Chefs from the Southwest Region, with 100 chefs total competing for the award nationally.?According to?Food & Wine, they’re searching for “the 10 most brilliant up-and-coming chefs,” and they want to know who you think is the most talented American chef.?The editors of?Food & Wine?have been bestowing the award since 1998, and this year, the dining public has a say. Online voting began on Feb. 15 and runs through March 1. So, if you think Forage or Pago’s chefs—or any of the other nominated chefs—deserve the title of People’s Best New Chef for 2011, cast your vote by going to Eatocracy.cnn.com. How cool would it be to see Food & Wine’s Best New Chef come from Salt Lake City?

More to Sea
At Tucanos Brazilian Grill, there is “more to sea” through April 17, as the restaurant celebrates its Seafood Festival. In addition to the usual churrascaria-style meats, Tucanos will be featuring grilled shrimp, tuna, salmon and assorted other seafood treats at no additional cost. In addition, they also have two special add-ons available: a 12-ounce lobster tail—steamed and served with drawn butter—and their new bacon-wrapped giant-scallop skewer. In addition to Boise and Albuquerque locations, you’ll find Tucanos Brazilian Grill at The Gateway here in Salt Lake City and in Provo at The Shops at Riverwoods. For more information and featured menu items, visit Tucanos.com.
