05/03/06, 10:50, Strong Arm Robbery, near 800 S. 900 West



“The victim was stopped by a male Hispanic or white adult, 6’, skinny, wearing a blue hoodie jacket and Levis, who asked him for money. The victim pulled out a money clip with his money in it, handed the suspect a few dollars and placed the money back into his pants pocket. When the suspect observed … the money, he forcefully reached inside the victim’s pocket and took the money from him. The victim tried to defend himself unsuccessfully. Witnesses observing the crime tried to chase the suspect, but were unable to stop him. As of the writing the suspect has not been located. The victim was treated for minor injuries.

Let this be a lesson to Ivory Tower do-gooders: Flashing your wad in the faces of desperate and often drug-addled panhandlers is not only imprudent but rather insensitive.

05/01/06, 19:33 Auto-Bicycle Accident, near 1900 W. 900 North



“A twelve-year old male was riding his bicycle southbound on Star Crest Dr. and entered the crosswalk at 900 North. A silver Jeep Cherokee was westbound on 900 North and failed to heed the 4-way stop. The Jeep struck the victim, who became lodged under the vehicle. The vehicle dragged the victim 27 feet before stopping. It backed up and dragged the victim another 12 feet before dislodging him. The vehicle fled the scene northbound on Star Crest Dr. The victim suffered only a sore back and minor scrapes, and was released to his mother. The suspect driver was described as a male Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old.

05/01/06, 13:41, Auto-Pedestrian Accident, near 300 N. 600 West “A three-year old was playing in a van in the driveway at this address. The van began rolling backwards toward the road. The child jumped from the vehicle and was run over by one of the front wheels. The child was transported by ambulance to the hospital in critical condition, but was later upgraded to fair condition.

05/01/06, 03:53, Rolling Stolen/Robbery Suspect Arrest, 1300 S. 300 East



“An officer observed a suspicious van in the area of 1300 South 300 East. The van was listed as a stolen vehicle out of Ogden. After the vehicle was stopped, it was noted that the driver matched the description of the robbery suspect in the recent string of till taps/robberies. The driver was interviewed by detectives and subsequently booked into Jail on eight counts of robbery and possession of the stolen vehicle. The arrested person … who had been released from prison on 4-25-06.

04/28/06, 03:01, Robbery with a gun, Navajo St. near 1000 South



“The victim was outside working around his garage when the suspect, male Asian or Polynesian, 5’9”, 170 lb, tattoo of a moon over his left eye and eye brow, wearing a brown hoodie and jeans, approached on foot. The suspect demanded something from the victim, and showed the victim a gun. The victim handed over his wallet, cell phone and keys. The suspect then demanded the victim’s pants and told him to lie down on the ground. The suspect was last seen westbound on foot.
