New Year’s Eve parties separate the best from the worst of clubs and predict the success of nightclubs for years after. This week, we profile some of the best venues for super-fancy New Year’s celebrations offering Champagne and requiring cocktail attire (where noted).
CMG events for NY @ The Depot and Harry O’s
It would be easy to hate on the CMG promotion group. We simply cannot. They throw some amazing parties in Park City at Harry O’s (427 Main) and in Salt Lake City at The Depot (400 W. South Temple). New Year’s Eve has New York’s DJ Rockaton up in PC for the Fifth Annual Black & White Masquerade Ball (cocktail dress required). CMG’s SLC party will see Steve Smooth from Chicago spinning at The Depot.
More New Years Formal Attire Hot Spots:
Downstairs in PC (625 Main) is hosting its Black Tie Affair With DJ Mom Jeans and DJs Miss Lux and Bentley. The Huka Bar (151 E. 6100 South) is hosting “A Black Tie Event” with SJ Schmokey.
Blind Bubbly: Champagne Tasting In Jam
Do you know the difference between Jam and jelly? You can’t jelly your ass into the best gay bar in the Marmalade. Bad jokes aside, Jam (751 N. 300 West) is hosting a unique end-of-year event the day before New Year’s Eve with a sommelier (French for “fancy wine guy”) and several kinds of Champagne. The tasting starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 30. Remember, it’s okay to spit; you don’t have to swallow when tasting.
The Republican: Quiz Time
Josh Stasinos claims he has the best—and first—pub quiz in town. The Republican bartender and quizmaster fired off sample questions at us and we have to agree. Mondays at 9:30 p.m at The Republican (917 S. State).
