Burt’s: Sports Bar Without the Sports Bar
The main problem with sports bars is that they are sports bars. Don’t dig the kitschy jerseys on the walls or the waitresses assaulting you with fake boobs and wing specials? Truck on over to Burt’s Tiki Lounge (726 S. State). That’s right, the bar known for punk shows, hangover-inducing tallboys of PBR and a little thing called “standards” is showing the Sunday- and Monday-night football games on its screens—with a side of chili. If you’ve longed for an environment that doesn’t include fake/hormone-plumped breasts (of the chicken or saline kind), drop by Burt’s at game time for man stew and man meat slugging it out in a bar with no jersey decor.
Johnny’s Irish Night
Wednesday nights find Johnny’s on Second (165 E. 200 South) a little luckier for those on the prowl as Irish Night brings its providential powers to bear. Joe Phono hosts traditional Irish and Irish punk music, plus specials on drinks every hump day. Murphy’s Stout cans are just $3, as are shots of John Powers Irish whiskey, and you can get $4 plates of Irish grub like Irish Guinness Stew, reuben casserole and shepherd’s pie. Put on some green panties, because any extra luck will come in handy.
Hot Shots from Johnny’s on Second:
1. Kritstina Johnson, Emily Torres
2. Lacie Barnes, Cory Steele
3. Brian Koch, Niki Westfall
