Congratulations to Chase 1-2 for bringing down the house during the City Weekly Music Awards DJs spin-off/kickoff party at W Lounge (358 S. West Temple). DJs Erockalypse, Juggy, Loki and Flash & Flare each held their own vying for top honors—bragging rights and a slot opening up the Feb. 20 CWMA final party at The Depot (400 W. South Temple). On a side note, never park in the hotel lot next to W—your car will be booted. Club Matters found this out the hard way.
Dead Club Rising: Zanzibar
After a brief hiatus from the scene, Zanzibar (677 S. 200 West) is back, though it’s no longer strictly a jazz spot. The all-ages venue serves alcohol to 21-and-up guests who come for a variety of music and open-mic nights. Stop in and say hello to the new managers.
Private Showers
Southern X-posure Downtown (1737 N. Beck St.) recently launched a new series of private shower shows. Brush up on anatomy before midterms, with student discounts on Wednesdays.
La-Di-Da-Di
Hip-hop legend Slick Rick will be in town for the 3rd Rail Jam Winter Tour 2010 wrap party Feb. 13—after the action at Brighton winds down. The evening starts at 9 p.m. at the Woodshed (60 E. 800 South). $10 at the door or go to 3rdRailJam.com for guest-list registration.
