Lake Effect | Better Than a Boycott

nPlans to punish the LDS Church for its hardcore, inhuman support of California’s Proposition 8 through a tourism boycott of Utah are likely to backfire (see Private Eye). Still, that church has to be slapped somehow. Problem is, how do you boycott a church?

There’s one very good way, if you’re one of the many individuals who have “fallen away,” as they say: Resign your membership.

n

Membership isn’t dropped automatically. Even if you’ve considered yourself a non-Mormon for many years, the church still counts you in its flock. However, it is legally required to honor member resignations.

n

It’s much more fun than letting them excommunicate you. (Make sure they know that you don’t want to belong to their club, not the other way around.) Check out MormonNoMore.com for helpful, step-by-step instructions and then send your letter of resignation to the following address:

Member Records Division, LDS Church
n50 E. North Temple, Rm. 1372
