What’s the Uncensored Comedy Movement of SLC?
nA local group of comics that chooses to do uncensored shows with no rules on content.
Why did you break away from Wiseguys?
nWiseguys wasn’t willing to allow us more than five minutes or so a week onstage. Also, they have huge censorship rules. If we wanted to grow as comics, the split was a must.
Is the subject matter of your shows rude and crude?
nI’m not gonna lie, there is swearing at our shows. There are sex jokes as well, but the majority of the comics in our movement have comedy with substance—comedy that actually makes you think. Do some people get offended at our show? Yes. There are always those people, but trust me, they will never forget the valid point we just made.
Do you count “Man of 1,000 Voices” Marcus among your pals?
nMarcus was always a nice guy to me. I am happy for his success. I think he’s talented for sure. He’s an entertainer, what I like to call a “people pleaser,” which isn’t a bad thing. He just prefers to do what mainstream loves, and he’s great at it. But have you seen what he did before? Yeah, it’s like Frank Caliendo and Dane Cook had a baby.
Why are you funny?
nIt’s just what I do. Some people wanna be real-estate agents and crunch numbers during the day. I’d rather drink beer onstage with a cigarette and make people laugh and think. Or, at least, laugh.
