Best Place to Chill
Beerhive Pub
When there are more than 200 beers on a menu from all over the world, picking the right one becomes a little intimidating. The bartenders at the Beerhive offer tremendous help with their vast knowledge of these beers and what meal would best complement them—food provided by next-door-neighbor Michelangelo Ristorante. Need something even more unique? You can keep those beers nice and frosty on a strip of ice that lines the bar. You have yourself a winner, friend. With the City Creek development opening nearby, this will be the perfect place for Salt Lakers and visitors to chill, literally.

Best Main Refrain
Keys on Main
It does the soul good, riding down Main Street on Trax and seeing a lively piano bar pulling in the crowds at the Gallivan stop. For those recent years when downtown had little to offer except widespread construction, Keys on Main kept the lights on and gave revelers a reason to gather, eat pub food, clink their glasses, request and sing along to piano tunes played by talented entertainers. Now that downtown’s got its groove back, Keys on Main is still the best place to get your party on and take a train home.

The Hog Wallow
Best Outdoorsy Pub
The Hog Wallow
As you approach Hog Wallow through the backroads of the Old Mill area of Cottonwood Heights, you’ll realize you’re about to enter a pub that’s unlike any other in Salt Lake City. Interior wood-based furnishings give Hog Wallow a warm cabin feeling throughout. The live bands add to the aura of the pub but are anything but overwhelming, still allowing close conversations. When you step outside, choose from any of the multilevel-patio sweet spots to indulge in a cool drink and some fresh air in this all-natural setting.3200 E. Everybody needs to relax, and get along. Are there Geeks Who Drink quizzes in other states? Yes. Does that mean that the commitment, effort, performance, and benefit to the venues are not entirely local? Local writers, local hosts, local promotion. The bottom line is these bars need your business.
Do you not go to a bar when they have a band visit from out of town?
When you go to a Geeks Who Drink, or any other quiz, you're supporting a local business. No, GWD isn't funneling money out of the state to snort cocaine off hookers while clubbing baby seals. It's not some giant corporation of evil billionaires. I've tried reaching a hand out to others, as there's no such thing as competition. If people are encouraged to experience entertainment away from the TV, it's a good thing. Not everyone can fit in the same bar every night. There's enough room for everyone.
So, how about enough of the name-calling and mis-informed rumors and witch hunts, okay?
Be excellent to everyone. Peace & love!
Kids, and I mean that sincerely, you're both wrong! Good quiz night organizers don't care about each other to the level where you have to call them out. Everyone has their own quiz night and they're all fun to attend for varied reasons. But when you acknowledge each other and get pissy about it in public with your players, that's when we, the people you keep begging to come play so you can get paid that night by whatever bar you're shacked up at, stop coming. You're all trolls to some degree! So less bickering, more tivia, and move on!
Sick bar quiz burn, bro. They both got an award.
Seeing as the other quiz nights around town are amateur hour (especially Big Shiny Robot), stop hating on GWD. Back under the bridge with you troll.
