John!!!!! I've installed web press machinery here in Salt Lake to print your publication, don't let my precision and hard work go to waste. Tell us this is a spoof!!!!!! We need you and your staff here in Salt Lake, things would not be the same if you left. =(
This was a great April 1st joke. One of the best. I almost believed it and started to line up my own version of curses for Saltas, when I saw the print date. That was really really funny.
Saltas; just for the records, don't you dare selling city weekly to anybody but me!
I heard about this story from about 30 people prior to reading it. They all believed it. Given today's lousy economy, coupled with the ongoing death of print media, the story seemed plausible. That's why it wasn't funny. At all. Thanks for treating your readers like chumps. I ain't reading your paper anymore.
Ah, but will it still be a story tomorrow?
I didn't see the web version of the issue, only the one on the newsstand which doesn't directly state that the Church bought the City Weekly (no subhead). Therefore, when I read the staff editorial, I was totally floored, shocked and bought it all: hook, line and sinker. You guys are really good.
